Cabin Fever Year-Round

I can tell how some people may get cabin fever year-round. Wintertime we Alaskans live in minimal daylight, and since it's too cold at times to be outside we're inside. Most try to dress their windows light during Winter, to keep the light coming into their homes. We do what we can getting UV Ray lights into our homes. In Spring/Summer, the best light comes from outside. When winter is gone, we do all we can to get light. There are times when the light shines off the snow, and it's too bright. You will need to wear your sunglasses.

Today was scorching hot. So hot, we left our blinds closed most of the day, and opened only those windows in the shade. It was so hot, you could've cooked an egg on the floor. I went out and got myself a tan in our backyard. We finally purchased a lawn mower for ourselves, and cut the grass for the fifth time this year. Praise God for new lawnmowers! It did a great job. We brought the parakeets out, and put up a tent in the yard. We've been spending some time at the river, and I'm really enjoying our summer and the time we spend outside the house. For the first time I actually turned pinkish/red in some areas. I usually tan, not burn. I didn't put any sunblock, or suntan stuff on. I usually don't need any, nor use it. Just in my moisturizer. I'm taking in all the rays that I can gaining back my natural color, lol. Gotta do it before winter comes.

I think it's kinda silly that we have to close our blinds to keep the house cool during the summer, but I'm sure you understand. If we did not, it would be just as hot inside as it is outside. Most houses don't come with air conditioning. I enjoyed getting the rest of the yard done, clipping, trimming and pruning the trees, bush, and areas the lawnmower couldn't reach. While I was tossing some of the brush I cut into the bushes, a grey rabbit ran out a foot from where I stood, and ran back into the bushes. We saw a little rodent out there. We have a neighborhood squirrel that occupies the trees in our front yard. As I was able to ponder on this beautiful backyard God has allowed us to have, I took a look at the house. I pointed out all the problems we have with unfinished business on it, plus the overdue paint job it needs. I'm very thankful we're in a place. I wish at times it was a little more in order. At times I have anxiety about where it should be. It takes some work to upkeep, and I have to shovel the snow in the winter away from the house, or break up (ice melt in Spring) will enter into my house.

So, I cast my unbelief unto the Lord, and stand on His promises that He will help me. I'm thankful our rent is not as expensive as it could be, but sometimes frustrate myself over things that need to get done around it including housework, homeschool, and ministry. We're kinda like the last priority at the moment.

We have so many trees, and they are so tall, I have to wonder how tall the trees were, or what colors they were in the Garden of Eden. How beautiful to the eyes it must have been to the first people that laid eyes on them.

Dad's Birthday!

Pops turned 43 today. The kids and I had a blast pouring out love to him today. I don't think we express it enough. I praise God for moments like these where we can appreciate him even more. I know my time is short and limited with him, and I pray for God to allow us many more good years together. Praise Jesus! Gotta go make him some popcorn.

FREEDOM

-Jesus
-Our soldiers in harms way

My appreciation for my freedom in Christ, and in this world where I'm allowed to be a Christian grows each year. I cried hard for the soldiers in harms way today for me, my family, and my fellow countrymen.;) Standing for the pledge of allegiance, hearing the Star Spangled Banner, and hearing God bless America couldn't sound more sweeter, more fuller, more rich.

Thank you, God.

Thank a soldier for their service when you see them. :)
